Our Honeymoon at Sugar Beach
Hi there! I am so excited to finally share all the details from our amazing honeymoon. I've had lots of people ask about our trip, so without further adieu, here it is (7 months later).
Daniel and I got married on October 21st, 2017, and it was the most magical day. You can read all about our wedding here!
After our wedding, we took off to St. Lucia and it was truly a dream honeymoon. When trying to decide where to go for our honeymoon, we made a list of things we wanted and didn't want.Wanted:
Great, fresh food
Private villa
Beautiful views
Safe island
All-inclusive
Good interiors
Didn't want:
A party resort
Mass-producted food
Dangerous town outside the resort
Lots of tourists
My older sister, Jessica, got married two years ago and they went on the most amazing honeymoon to St. Lucia and stayed at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort. She told us there wasn't one thing that they didn't like about the resort and it really had everything we wanted for our honeymoon. We had heard so many great reviews from this resort and island, so after much research, we decided to book our stay at Sugar Beach.
We booked through a travel agent which was very helpful and gave us a peace of mind. We decided to stay Sunday-Friday and do the all-inclusive package which included breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. It included appetizers, main course, and a dessert. We knew we were in for a treat after hearing how wonderful the food was.
We flew from Atlanta to St. Lucia which took about 4.5 hours. Upon arriving at the small, yet quaint, airport, we had a car waiting for us and took a 45 minute drive to Sugar Beach. The airport was safe and all the locals were so kind. When we drove up to the resort, I was blown away by how beautiful it was. It is situated between two mountains, the Pitons, and the views were truly breathtaking.
We were greeted with a fresh passion fruit cocktail and we knew we had entered Heaven on earth.
We rode a tuk tuk up the mountain to our villa and met our private butler who was an angel. Our private villa had a small infinity pool and a porch that turned out to be our favorite spot.
We loved watching the sunset from our porch each night.
Our favorite thing about Sugar Beach was the food. There are four restaurants at the resort and they are all amazing and all very different. The breakfast spot was my favorite because there was a beautiful spread of fresh fruits grown on the island, homemade breads and pastries, meats, yogurts, juices and a menu with the most incredible options. There is a casual dining restaurant that we ate at for lunch and dinner twice called Bayside. It's right on the beach so it was perfect for a quick, delicious lunch after laying on the beach all morning. There's a sushi restaurant/bar called Cane Bar and the sushi is super fresh and authentic. Our favorite restaurant was The Great Room which is fine-dining and truly a culinary experience. The service was impeccable!
There were many excursions on the island but we ended up staying on our resort the entire time because it was beautiful and there was plenty to do right there. We swam, snorkeled and took a kayak out to see more of the island. After our wedding, all we wanted to do was relax!
We loved sitting under our umbrella and ordering snacks and drinks to our chairs. The servers were so kind and we loved getting to interact with them.
They also brought around cold lavender towels and sprayed us with Evian facial spray. We were spoiled!
My adorable HUSBAND!
The plantain chips were too good.
On our second to last day, we booked a couples massage at The Rainforest Spa and it was the most beautiful and unique spa I've ever been to. Each room was a separate tree house built with bamboo and straw roofs. We could have stayed there forever!
It was truly a trip of a lifetime and I would highly recommend Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort to anyone looking for the perfect honeymoon or vacation!
